You may remember Ayat from a recent post where I went to pick up my order downstairs and was informed that Matt Sauerhoff’s Mother-In-Law was married to a Superior Court Justice.

YES, that Ayat on 107 Loisaida Ave between 7th and 8th street in Alphabet City.

My homie, Paul Chang aka Yung Zagat, brought me here for the first time on my off-day shooting Vice Is Broke in 2023. We pulled up for our reservation and there was a crowd around the block waiting for tables on a cold mid-November Friday evening.

We waited about 20 minutes, smoked a joint, and I started to complain that this food better make me cooler, sexier, and more fun, if I was going to wait any longer for homestyle Middle-Eastern food on a Friday night.

I could understand having to wait for brunch at Raffi’s in Glendale. It’s next to one of the biggest movie theaters and shopping…
