Woman of the Hour
An important film as our collective energy for change seems to be waning...
Directing is masochistic. Most directors toil for years making skate videos, music videos, commercials, etc, so when someone like Anna Kendrick jumps from say… acting, singing - or even worse - hosting a food show to the director’s chair, I think most struggling directors who’ve devoted their lives to the craft begin to understand true despair.
I’ve been reading reviews of this film and it’s easy to make fun of someone like Anna Kendrick who I really don’t know much about besides that she was in The Accountant with Ben Affleck. She’s not really in the type of films I gravitate towards, but that’s neither an indictment of me or her. It doesn’t really matter what you think about her path, Woman of the Hour is her directorial debut and it’s good.
